The Ardennais is a heavy draught horse that has been bred in the Ardennes region (borders of Frange and Belgium) for hundreds of years. It is believed to be a descended from medieval warhorses. They are developed into two main types, a massive farm horse and a lightweigh horse. Although Ardennais are not used as often for for farming today, due to their good-nature they are very popular at shows. They stand between 15 and 16hh, and are tough built due to their harsh climate.
