The Hanoverian was developed in the 18th century by crossing Holsteins with mares. This produced a strong, agile horse that was used for farm work. Trakehners and Thoroughbreds were used to improve the breed and create a first-class competition horse. They are commonly used for dressage competitions due to being athletic and having good actions, many people call them dressage champions.
